Man Dead, Elderly Woman Injured In Queens House Fire

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An early morning fire in Queens has left a man dead and an elderly woman injured.

The fire broke out around 3:40 a.m. Monday at a private home on 118th Road. It started in the basement, sending smoke billowing through the home.

The victims were found after firefighters put out the blaze, police said.

An 89-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition. A 64-year-old man was also taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Their names have not yet been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
