A neighbor said the attack started as an argument between several men inside the restaurant that spilled out onto the street.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was stabbed and slashed in the head, neck and torso. He was listed in critical condition at Jacobi Medical Center, Dennis reported.

"He had a lot of blood all over his body," said one witness.

So far, no arrests have been made. It remains unclear if the machete has been recovered by authorities.
