NY Man Facing Charges After Allegedly Cooking Cat Alive

BATAVIA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A New York man was arrested after allegedly baking a cat alive in his home.

Darren R. Annovi, 42, of Batavia, was arrested July 11 after fire department officials found a dead cat in the oven of his apartment while responding to a smoke alarm call, police said.

Officials believe the cat was alive when Annovi placed the animal in the oven, police said.

Annovi faces charges of animal cruelty. He is being held at Genesee County Jail on no bail.

He is expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
