Man Charged In Fatal Coram Hit-And-Run

CORAM, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- An East Patchogue man has been arrested in the fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian in Coram last week.

Abdelgheni Dakyouk, 48, has been charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

Just before 6 a.m. Saturday, a man was walking on Route 112 between Granny Road and Route 25 when he was struck by a car traveling northbound, police said. The vehicle then fled north toward Route 25, according to authorities.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say his identity has not yet been positively identified.
