Man Accused Of Robbing Long Island Pharmacy Of Cash, Oxycontin

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested Tuesday charged with robbing a Port Jefferson Station Rite Aid pharmacy of cash and Oxycontin pills.

Ryan Frische, 27, of East Northport, was charged with robbery and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the incident at the Rite Aid at 518 Jefferson Plaza, which happened around 10:30 a.m. Monday, Suffolk County police said.

Police alleged Frische approached the pharmacy counter to purchase hypodermic needles. But after buying them legitimately, he allegedly made verbal demands and gave the clerk a note that demanded cash and "oxy" pills, police said.

Frische ran off with three bottles of Oxycontin pills and an undetermined amount of cash, police alleged.

Police officers responding to the scene interviewed witnesses and determined that Frische had fled to the America's Best Value Inn at 1371 Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station, police said. He was arrested there a short time afterward, police said.

Frische was being held late Tuesday at the Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct station, and was to appear on Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip.
