Man Accused Of Driving Van Through Wall Of House In Central Islip

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island arrested a man Thursday, for allegedly driving a car into a house in Central Islip the night before.

Suffolk County police alleged Michael Ferruzzo, 49, drove his 1996 Dodge minivan into a detached garage, and then through the exterior wall of the bedroom of a house at 41 E. Walnut St. in Central Islip around 10 p.m. Wednesday. He drove off afterward, police said.

The crash caused a wall to collapse, police said.

There were several people in the house at the time, but no one was injured, police said.

Suffolk County police Third Squad Detectives arrested Ferruzzo at his house in Ronkonkoma around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

He was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and first-degree reckless endangerment, and was due for arraignment in Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
