Yvan Peralta-Taveras, of Waterbury, was awaiting arraignment on charges of assault, making a terroristic threat, obstructing governmental administration and menacing.

It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, Taveras is accused of threatening police officers, saying they deserve to be shot.

The judge set bail at $50,000 after saying, "In light of the world we live in, and you are accused of threatening officers, I will set bail in this amount."

Police say Peralta-Taveras was yelling, harassing customers and threatening to burn the store down.

According to Newsday, he threatened another police officer while in custody.

Peralta-Taveras was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
