Major Deegan Expressway reopens following truck fire

Truck fire shuts down northbound Major Deegan

NEW YORK -- A truck fire shut down the northbound lanes of the Major Deegan Expressway overnight in the Bronx. 

At least two vehicles were involved in a crash around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday near 225th Street, causing the truck to burst into flames. 

Fire officials said one person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. 

Northbound lanes were closed for several hours but have since reopened. One southbound lane remains closed.
