NYC Council votes unanimously to approve Madison Square Garden permit

NEW YORK -- The New York City Council has approved a new permit for Madison Square Garden.

The council vote was unanimous, but the extension is only for five years, the shortest in the Garden's history.

The permit allows MSG to continue to operate above Penn Station.

The city and state plan to take a closer look at how Madison Square Garden will be integrated with the transit complex at Moynihan Train Hall.
