Made-For-TV Movie Based On Teaneck Woman Takes The Cake

TEANECK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- In the summer of 2009, Teaneck resident Angela Logan's home was on the verge of foreclosure.

As a Hail Mary, she began using her grandmother's family recipe to whip up dozens of "Mortgage Apple Cakes."

"I went online and mailed to everybody that I knew, 'Buy a cake, save a home,'" Logan told WCBS 880's Jim Smith.

Before long, Logan's story exploded into national news. Hundreds of orders for cakes came pouring in, and Logan saved her house.

If it sounds like something out of Hollywood, it soon will be: Logan's story is being made into a TV movie, scheduled to run on April 27 on the Up network.

"Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined this would happen," she said.

"It's like going into fairy land," Logan said.

Logan still lives at her Teaneck home, and she's still baking her famous cakes.

So what makes them so popular?

"The apples and the moistness and the aroma, the freshness, the natural ingredients," she explained.
