Long Island Man Accused Of Burglarizing At Least 16 Businesses

MILLER PLACE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island have nabbed a man they believe burglarized at least 16 businesses since August.

Robert Cariddi, 49, of Mount Sinai, was arrested Monday in Miller Place after he broke into a Chinese restaurant, police told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.

Police believe Cariddi is responsible for other break-ins targeting Asian restaurants and nail salons in Centereach, Selden, Setauket, Rocky Point, Sound Beach, Patchogue, Bohemia and Middle Island.

Police said the suspect would break in through a front window and steal cash.

Suffolk County authorities, meanwhile, are asking others who may have been victimized by the suspect to contact them.

He will be arraigned Tuesday on a host of burglary charges as well as false impersonation.
