Long Island Teen Accepted To All Ivy League Schools Chooses Harvard

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island teenager who was accepted into all eight Ivy League schools will be heading to Harvard University this fall.

Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, 17, revealed her choice Monday.

The Elmont Memorial Junior – Senior High School senior said she chose Harvard for its diversity.

"I was really captivated by the strong Nigerian presence there," she said. "I am Nigerian and those values have really cultivated me into the person I am today so that really was a strong factor that influenced my decision."

This was the second year in a row that an Elmont senior was accepted by all the Ivy League schools.

Last year, Elmont's Harold Ekeh chose Yale from among the 13 universities where he was accepted.
