Long Island School Bus Driver Accused Of Selling Heroin In Between Routes

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island school bus driver has been accused of selling heroin.

The Suffolk County District Attorney said that Anna Kovarick was committing crimes in between trips to and from a West Islip school.

The 38-year-old Acme Bus Corp. driver allegedly peddled heroin in between her morning and afternoon routes, DA Tom Spota said.

Kovarick was arrested after allegedly purchasing 300 bags of heroin from her supplier at a Rockville Center restaurant, Newsday reported.

Alleged supplier Alex Vera was also arraigned on Friday. Police searched Vera's West Hempstead home and discovered three guns, 540 bags of heroin, and 6 ounces of cocaine, Newsday reported.

Kovarick was arraigned on Friday night, and was being held at the Suffolk County Jail on $10,000 bond.
