Police: Man Dies After Cutting Power Line While Trimming Tree On Long Island

COMMACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police said a man died Sunday when he accidentally cut a power line while trimming a tree on Long Island.

Suffolk County police told 1010 WINS the man -- identified as Oscar Diaz, 39, of Brentwood -- was trimming a tree at a home on Roberta Lane in Commack around 10:30 a.m., when he accidentally cut the power line and was electrocuted.

Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A Newsday report said the man was left dangling from the tree and his body had to be taken down by firefighters.

PSEG Long Island cut power to the area following the accident, the newspaper reported.

Diaz worked for GA Island Landscaping Corps, police said.
