Long Island Mom Who Allegedly Drove Drunk With Kid In Car Appears In Court

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island mother accused of driving drunk with her young son in the vehicle faced a judge Monday morning.

Sheri Hinds, of Farmingdale, was drunk and speeding with her 8-year-old boy in her minivan when police pulled her over in Roosevelt around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

The 28-year-old woman was released Monday on probation and ordered back in court in two weeks to faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child, a felony under Leandra's Law, WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.

The boy was placed in the custody of his father.
