Long Island Man Accused Of Threatening Police Officer On Facebook

GLEN COVE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Long Island man is accused of sending threatening messages to a police officer via Facebook.

Julian Velasquez, 19, was charged with two counts of aggravated harassment and one count of menacing.

According to Glen Cove Police Det. Lt. John Nagle, an officer stopped Velasquez on Jan. 19 for driving an uninsured vehicle.

Two days later, Velasquez allegedly sent threatening messages to the officer, saying that the officer should be careful where he goes around town while off-duty.

In addition, police said Velasquez allegedly bragged that the officer did not find drugs that were in his car when he was stopped.

Velasquez was ordered held on $3,000 bail following his arrest on Wednesday, police said.
