Police: Drunk Long Island Man Crashes Into 2 Police Cars

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Farmingville man is accused of driving drunk and crashing into two police cars early Sunday morning.

The Suffolk County Police said in a statement Jonathan Kunstadt, 22, crashed into the two vehicles as officers were assisting a disabled motorist on William Floyd Parkway at 3:30 a.m.

The officers and the motorist were outside their vehicles at the time of the crash.

One of the officers was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for minor injuries. The other officer and the motorist were not injured.

Kunstadt had five passengers in his 2003 Chevrolet Malibu at the time of the crash. One of the passengers, 22-year-old Gunnar Cortes of Mastic, was transported to Brookhaven for serious injuries. Three other passengers were also taken there for minor injuries.

Kunstadt was charged with driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
