LIRR Expects Delays, No Cancellations For Monday Evening Commute

WOODSIDE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The LIRR expects no cancellations for the Monday afternoon rush, but says there may still be delays after a derailed maintenance car east of Woodside snarled the morning commute.

No MTA workers were hurt, but LIRR riders encountered delays and some westbound train cancellations.

Some trains were diverted to Atlantic Terminal, Brooklyn and Hunterspoint Avenue during the morning rush.

Additionally, eastbound trains bypassed Woodside, Forest Hills and Kew Gardens.

New York City Transit cross-honored LIRR tickets at Forest Hills and Kew Gardens for eastbound service to Jamaica.

The derailed train was cleared from the track at around 9:45 a.m.
