Third Rail Damage In East River Tunnel Snarls LIRR Service
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Long Island Railroad says its service is on or close to schedule in and out of Penn Station following earlier delays and cancellations due to third rail damage in one of Amtrak's East River tunnels.

Select trains were diverted Wednesday morning to Atlantic Terminal, Hunterspoint Avenue or terminating at Jamaica Station. Service between Atlantic and Jamaica Avenues has since been restored.
NYC Transit continues to cross-honoring tickets for the E train at Jamaica (Sutphin/Archer), Kew Gardens (Union Turnpike) and Forest Hills (71st Avenue); at Atlantic Terminal and 34th Street for the 2/3 train; and on the 7 train at Woodside (61st).
