LIRR Riders Face Service Disruptions During Morning Rush Due To 2 Separate Incidents
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Long Island Rail Road riders continue to face delays Monday due to two separate incidents of people being struck by trains.
Ronkonkoma branch service was suspended in both directions for a time early Monday morning due to a person being struck by a train near Hicksville.
Separately, service between Jamaica and Penn Station was also suspended during the morning commute due to a non-passenger train striking a person on the tracks near Woodside.
The LIRR says both incidents have since been cleared, but riders should still expect systemwide delays of about 30 minutes.
LIRR customers: Both incidents, one at Woodside and one east of Hicksville have been cleared. Customers are advised to expect systemwide delays averaging 30 minutes.

Some commuters say the LIRR needs to be better prepared for emergencies like these.
"I think the LIRR needs better contingency plans in place and I don't think they have those so when something happens, everything goes into a tailspin," said commuter Nancy Petrak.
