Signal Problems Snag LIRR Babylon Branch For Friday Evening Commuters

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A signal problem snagged some Long Island Rail Road commuters as they began their weekends Friday evening.

Multiple trains on the Babylon Branch were canceled, and several others were delayed an average of 40 minutes, due to a signal problem near Freeport, according to the LIRR.

This past Monday, a derailed maintenance car east of Woodside snagged LIRR commuters.

On Tuesday, a person was struck and killed by an LIRR train near Queens Village, briefly suspending all service west of Jamaica.
