'Linsanity' Is Back In New York -- Sort Of
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Jeremy Lin has returned to New York.
CBS2's Maurice DuBois reported Lin took the city by storm four years ago, as his exploits at Madison Square Garden have become the stuff of legend.
He was only with the Knicks for a year, but four seasons and three teams later, Lin is back in the Big Apple, this time with the Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets are entering a rebuilding stage and are not built to win now, but that didn't deter Lin from deciding to sign a three-year, $38 million deal.
"It's like investing in a start-up," Lin told reporters. "You count on what's going to happen in the future."
"Linsanity" became basketball lore in New York, and his connection to the community, especially the Asian community, will take center stage now that he's back in the city that made him famous.
"All new Nets fans are welcome," Lin said. "We have room for fans to join."
He started the Jeremy Lin Foundation during his time with the Houston Rockets. One hundred percent of donations go to supporting non-profit organizations that positively impact the lives of children.
