Lindenhurst High School Sets Up New Drug, Alcohol Treatment Program For Students

LINDENHURST, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A new school program has been set up on Long Island for students addicted to drugs or alcohol.

As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, the new drug and alcohol counseling treatment program is open to anyone at Lindenhurst High School.

That includes students who are not addicted, but who need to get information for a friend that has a problem with substance abuse.

"I was a high school principal prior to this and saw a way too many graduates and even current students you know be affected by this," said district Supt. Daniel Giodano. "So we knew we had to do something."

Giodano said the problem sadly is not only seen in Lindenhurst, but around Long Island.
