LINDEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Traffic is moving again more than eight hours after a tanker truck overturned along a busy highway in Linden.

The crash occurred just after midnight Wednesday on Routes 1 and 9 near the Bayway Refinery.

The northbound lanes were closed at Wood Avenue while crews cleaned up 1,900 gallons of diesel fuel that had spilled from the tanker. One lane was reopened by 8:30 a.m.

Police say initial reports show that the tanker was heading south when the driver lost control, struck the center median and then overturned. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A 27-year-old man who was a passenger in the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
