Lifeguard back on duty as New York City beach season kicks off this weekend
NEW YORK -- If you can't make it to the shore this weekend, New York City beaches are just a subway ride away.
Starting Saturday, the city's eight public beaches will be open for the summer.
Lifeguards will be on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The Parks Department urges everyone to be safe and only swim when lifeguards are on duty, and also wear sunscreen.
