LI Fitness Center Custodian Accused Of Stealing Wallet From Locker
NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police arrested and charged a Long Island fitness center custodian Thursday, on allegations that he used his keys to steal a wallet from a gym locker.
Jamel Q. Miller, 27, of Far Rockaway, Queens, was charged with grand larceny after his arrest at 11:30 a.m. in New Hyde Park, according to Nassau County police.
Miller was working as a custodian at the LA Fitness gym at 1111 Marcus Ave. in New Hyde Park in Nov. 17, when he allegedly used a key to unlock a locker and take a wallet containing multiple credit cards, police said.
Miller then used the credit card to buy items at a local supermarket, police said.
Miller was also charged with forgery and identity theft, police said. He was to be arraigned Friday at Nassau County First District Court in Hempstead.
