LI Animal Shelter Says Thief Stole Donation Jar For Dog In Need Of Home
BABYLON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- As a Long Island dog waits for a forever home, authorities said a heartless thief stole money that was collected to help care for her.
As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, little Miley is as cute as a button, but she has been through a lot recently.
The Italian Greyhound's legs became deformed, possibly due to an auto-immune disease. So as doctors at the Babylon Animal Hospital performed operations to help her walk properly again, a donation jar was placed on the front counter to help with Miley's care.
But then, practice manager Cindy Peterson said a thief walked in and stole the jar with $500 inside.
"He needs to learn that this is wrong and he can't be doing this," Peterson said.
Police are still looking for the suspect. And Peterson said Miley is still looking to be adopted into a loving home.
