Black History Is Our History: Queens Resident Lewis Latimer, Son Of Fugitive Slaves, Helped Make Lighting More Affordable

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Lewis Latimer, the son of fugitive slaves, invented a method for producing a longer lasting light bulb which also made lighting affordable for more people.

He lived in Queens when he died in 1928.
