Leslie Odom Jr. To Leave 'Hamilton' July 9

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Leslie Odom Jr. is leaving ``Hamilton.''

The actor, who earlier this month won a best actor Tony award for his portrayal of Aaron Burr in the hit musical, announced he would be leaving the show on July 9 when his contract is up.

He made the announcement Sunday in a video message on Facebook.

Odom's Tony was one of 11 awarded to the show which has spawned a hit soundtrack and a best-selling book.

Odom said that he would never forget the people he met during the process which he described as ``healing'' and ``inspiring.''

His announcement follows that of show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda who said Thursday that he too would exit the show on July 9. Javier Munoz will take on Miranda's role as Hamilton full-time starting on July 11.

Phillipa Soo, who plays Eliza Schuyler, also announced this week that she will exit the show in July.
