2 Firefighters Hurt After Flames Rip Through Nassau County Synagogue

LAWRENCE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two firefighters were injured battling a blaze in Nassau County.

Police said the flames broke out around 12:30 a.m. at a synagogue inside a home on Seagirt Avenue in Lawrence, near the Queens border.

Dozens of firefighters responded to the scene, including members of the FDNY.

The two firefighters were injured after the roof of the home collapsed.

Officials say the Torah and other religious items inside were saved.

There's no word on what caused the fire.
