Laser Pointed At NYPD Helicopter Near Pratt Institute

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Someone pointed a laser toward an NYPD helicopter near Pratt Institute in Brooklyn Thursday night, police said.

An NYPD aviation pilot spotted the laser guided from the ground toward the aircraft in the vicinity of Pratt, possibly on campus, police sources told CBS2. The incident happened shortly after dark Thursday, police told 1010 WINS.

Patrol officers from the 88th Precinct were notified on the ground and a canvass was conducted, police said. The source of the laser was never found.

The aircraft landed safely back at the special operations base at Floyd Bennett Field, police said.

Police continued to investigate the incident late Thursday.
