Fire Rips Through Large Apartment Complex In Lakewood, N.J.

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – A fire devastated a large apartment complex Friday in Lakewood, New Jersey.

Police said the blaze started around 3:30 p.m. on Sophee Lane.

Chopper 2 was over the scene, where you could see most of the building's roof was gone and many of the homes appeared gutted.

The fire was fueled in part by a gas line that was damaged by the initial flames, officials said. The line has since been shut down.

There was no word on what sparked the blaze.
