Kurt Warner On WFAN: Giants Can Win East If Defense Shows Up

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Kurt Warner is picking the Giants to win the NFC East this season. But before he talks them up too much, he wants to see the revamped defense in action.

"I do like the Giants, and again it's more on paper than anything else," the former Giants quarterback told WFAN's Mike Francesa on Friday.

"I have to see their defense, and all this money they spent on defense, I need to see it show up on Sunday. I've got to see it translate to playing good football defensively."

The Giants, who had the NFL's last-ranked defense in 2015, spent big in free agency, adding defensive end Olivier Vernon, defensive tackle Damon Harrison and cornerback Janoris Jenkins. The Giants open the season Sunday at Dallas.

Warner also discussed the Jets and several young quarterbacks from around the league. To listen to the full interview, click on the audio player below.
