Crews Search For Worker Who Fell Off Barge In Kill Van Kull

BAYONNE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A search was under way offshore from Bayonne, New Jersey Friday evening, after a worker fell off a barge.

Around 8:30 p.m., the worker fell into the Kill Van Kull, which separates Staten Island from Bayonne, from a barge near the International Matex Tank Terminals in Bayonne, officials told CBS2.

The worker was described as a 55-year-old man.

The U.S. Coast Guard, the NYPD, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the Bayonne Fire Department were on the scene trying to locate the worker late Friday, officials said.

Six divers were also dispatched, officials said.

The worker had not been located as of late Friday night.
