Justin Tuck To Sign 1-Day Contract, Retire As A Giant Friday

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Justin Tuck will sign a one-day contract Friday so that he can retire as a New York Giant.

Tuck, 33, announced in February he was hanging up his cleats after 11 seasons. The defensive end spent the first nine years of his career with the Giants and the past two with the Oakland Raiders.

The Giants announced they will hold a retirement ceremony for Tuck at 2 p.m. Friday.

Tuck was a member of the Giants' 2007 and 2011 world championship teams and had two sacks in each of their two Super Bowl wins.

"After months of praying and careful consideration, I have decided to retire from the game of football," Tuck said on Facebook in February. "I've had 11 great years and, honestly, I leave with very few regrets."

Tuck was an All-Pro in 2008 when he had 12 sacks and was selected for the 2008 and 2010 Pro Bowls. He finishes his career with 66 1/2 sacks, 22 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and three interceptions in 147 career games. Tuck missed the final 11 games this season with a torn pectoral muscle.
