Jones Beach State Park Marks Birthday With 50-Cent Parking

WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP)Jones Beach State Park on Long Island is celebrating its 90th birthday by reducing parking from $10 to 50 cents per car.

The special discount is valid only on Sunday, when the popular beach will reduce its parking fee to the amount visitors paid in 1929, when Jones Beach was dedicated by then-Gov. Franklin Roosevelt.

The current state executive, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, says Jones Beach is looking better than ever after a series of improvements and upgrades that cost the state more than $100 million since 2011.
