Water Briefly Closed At Jones Beach State Park After Report Of Shark

WANTAGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The waters at Jones Beach were closed late Tuesday after a shark was reported in the area, New York State Police said.

State police confirmed to CBS2 that a shark was spotted off Jones Beach around 5 p.m., and the water was declared off limits to beachgoers for about an hour and a half.

Officials undertook a search for a shark, but nothing was found and the water was reopened, state police confirmed.
