Jets Vs. Texans Predictions: NFL Week 11 Odds, Point Spreads And Picks

By Abraham Gutierrez

After ending the Cincinnati Bengals' hopes of a perfect season, the Houston Texans will try and put together their first three-game win streak of the year when they welcome the New York Jets Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately for the hosts, all indications are that, not only will Gang Green prevail, but a blowout might also be in store in what should be a one-sided affair.

NFL Week 11 Point Spreads & Betting Odds

For the record, most NFL Week 11 odds have the Jets [-2½] listed as two-and-a-half-point favorites over the Texans [+2½]. The OVER/UNDER between these clubs equals 41½ points, and finally, straight-up (alternate) betting lines look like this: New York Jets [-140] vs. Houston Texans [+120].

Jets vs. Texans Head-to-Head ATS Trends

Given that Sunday's game will mark only the seventh meeting between these ballclubs, there isn't an abundance of head-to-head ATS trends to take into account. However, there are two things that are definitely worth noting: Even though the Jets come in leading the overall series, 5-1, their last meeting was won by Houston on the road during the 2012 NFL season.

Can the Jets return the favor by going into NRG Stadium and snapping the Texans' two-game win streak? Because of the scarce history between them, the only ATS stat in this head-to-head matchup is that Gang Green is 6-1 in six games, and that the UNDER is also 5-1 during that same span.

ATS Trends Support Notion That Jets Will Thrash Texans

Most of the times, bettors make decisions based on how one team has performed against the rest of the league, rather than focusing on their mishaps. For example, conventional wisdom suggests that the smart money often lies on a team that has great stats, as it offers a sense of security.

Having that said, in this instance, the smart bet will be determined by the Texans' lack of consistency covering the spread. Pro-Jets bettors will be glad to know that their team is 4-1-1 in their last six road games overall, but most of all, choosing the lesser of two evils is the strategy at hand here.

Con-Texans bettors have plenty of information to go by in terms of stating away from this ballclub, against the spread or otherwise. The first stat that should serve as a red flag is the fact that Houston is 2-5 in its last seven Sunday games right after playing on Monday Night Football.

But everyone knows that many teams in the league struggle when playing on a short week. That said, there are plenty more deterrents that bettors simply cannot ignore when putting money against the spread on the home team.

The first is the Texans' 4-12-1 record on in their last 17 games following a straight-up win. Then, there's also their track record following a straight-up win, which currently stands at 5-15-1 in 21 affairs.

Want more reasons to stay away from the Houston Texans as an ATS option? How about the fact that they are 1-3-1 after allowing less than 90 rushing yards in their previous game, not to mention their 1-4-1 mark following games when they're surrendered less than 15 points.
