Jets Rule Out Walls, Sign Simms Off Practice Squad

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The New York Jets have ruled out cornerback Darrin Walls for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and have signed quarterback Matt Simms from the practice squad.

Walls, who has started seven of the team's eight games this season, was listed as doubtful Friday because of calf and knee injuries.

On Saturday, the Jets said he won't travel with the team to Kansas City. Phillip Adams could start in his place.

Simms will serve as insurance behind starter Michael Vick in case injured backup Geno Smith is not available.

Smith has been questionable for Sunday with a sore right shoulder, which he suffered before being benched in the Jets' 43-23 loss to Buffalo last Sunday.

The Jets also released wide receiver Chris Owusu.

Owusu had one catch for 7 yards with the Jets.
