Jenkins, 27, started 15 games for the Bears last season, registering 32 tackles and four sacks. He spent the three previous seasons with Washington, where he started 33 games but only recorded two sacks.

He figures to provide depth behind Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson and Leonard Williams.

The 300-pound Jenkins is not the only new face joining the Jets' defensive line. The team also signed veteran nose tackle Steve McLendon, who spent the past six seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, to a three-year, $12 million contract.

Meanwhile, Gang Green lost a defensive starter, as the Cleveland Browns agreed to terms with inside linebacker Demario Davis on a two-year, $8 million contract, according to multiple reports.

Davis, 27, started every game for the Jets over the past three seasons, but he found himself in a platoon last season with Erin Henderson, who is also a free agent. Davis had 90 tackles and two sacks last season.
