Jersey City Man Accused In Murder Of 2 Sentenced For Unrelated Robberies

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Jersey City man charged with murdering and decapitating two men was sentenced to 18 years in prison Thursday for two unrelated robberies.

The New Jersey State Attorney' General's office said Yusuf Ibrahim, 30, was sentenced Thursday in Hudson County to 18 years in prison.

Ibrahim had pleaded guilty to separate robberies in Jersey City that occurred in 2011 and 2012.

The 2011 robbery was a carjacking. In the 2012 robbery, Ibrahim shot one of his victims in the foot.

Ibrahim is also charged with the 2013 murder of Hany Tawadros, 23, and Amgad Konds, 27 -- both of whom were Egyptian nationals visiting Jersey City.

Ibrahim allegedly shot each of the men in the chest after he abducted them in February 2013 and buried them in a shallow grave in Atlantic County.

Authorities believe he wanted to make it more difficult to identify the victims and buried their heads and feet separately from their bodies.

Ibrahim was arrested in an apartment in Bayonne three days after the bodies were discovered in Buena Vista Township.
