Jersey City Councilman Introduces Legislation Mandating Bathrooms Throughout City Be Gender-Neutral

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Jersey City will consider gender-neutral bathrooms.

Councilman James Soloman introduced legislation that will mandate all single-stall toilets throughout the city be accessible to anyone.

If the ordinance is approved, all bathrooms would be gender-neutral.

Soloman says his office began to work on the ordinance in 2020 after Mayor Steven Fulop's executive order made all bathrooms in municipal buildings gender-neutral.
