14 Injured When Charter Bus Crashes With Car, Electric Traffic Signal Near Holland Tunnel

JERSEY CITY (CBSNewYork) - A bus and a car were involved in an accident in Jersey City Thursday morning.

The charter bus struck an electric traffic signal post near the approach to the Holland Tunnel at around 10:30 a.m.

Fourteen minor injuries were reported.

"A guy tried to beat the light," said passenger Edward Gordon. "He tried to come from the far right lane to make a left turn and the bus driver couldn't stop."

"The othere car tried to turn and the only thing I remember is when the bus hit the other car," said passenger Liliana Almiron. "Big crash, a lot of noise, and I hit my face into the front seat."

The traffic signal post was determined to be structurally sound after the crash. The other passengers got on other buses.
