Islip Schools Put On Lockout As Police Probe Domestic Dispute Case
ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Five schools in Suffolk County were in "lockout'' mode Tuesday because of police activity.
A police spokeswoman says officers were looking for a suspect involved in a domestic dispute at Islip.
As a precaution, all five Islip public schools were not permitting anyone to enter its buildings.
The police spokeswoman says the search began in the area of Islip Avenue and Beech Street, but cautioned it may be widening.
Local residents saw officers with weapons drawn and helicopters overhead.
