'I'm Over It': J.R. Smith Breaks Silence On Knicks Cutting Brother
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- J.R. Smith is so over it.
The New York Knicks guard says he's "fine with everybody" after the team waived his younger brother, Chris Smith, on New Year's Eve.
"I'm over it," he said Thursday, according to the New York Daily News. "I'm just worried about playing."
As reports of the pending move trickled in Monday, J.R. Smith posted an image on Twitter and Instagram from the movie "Casino" with the caption: "You know the sad thing about betrayal? It never comes from an enemy."
"I'm not worried about Instagram," Smith said. "We have to play the Spurs. That's my only focus."
Smith had four points and five rebounds Thursday in New York's 105-101 win at San Antonio.
Smith has made headlines — and been fined — for sticking up for Chris in the past. The league slapped him with a $25,000 fine for tweeting "hostile and inappropriate language" toward Brandon Jennings after the Detroit Pistons guard criticized the Knicks for employing his brother.
The 28-year-old insisted all was good despite the Instagram post that was either a knock at the Knicks or a case of really bad timing.
"I don't have no problems with anybody," Smith said, though he added he "wasn't happy" about it.
Chris Smith only played in two games this season at a minute apiece.
