I-287 Reopens In Morris County After Police Investigate Suspicious Item

BOONTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Interstate 287 was closed in both directions for nearly two hours in Morris County as New Jersey State Police investigated a suspicious item Monday morning.

The item was discovered in Boonton, prompting police to close the roadway between exits 39 in Hanover Township and 43 in Parsippany, which caused major traffic delays.

At one point, delays of up to 90 minutes were being reported.

CHECK CURRENT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS

Chopper 2 was over the scene when the State Police Arson and Bomb Squad brought in robots to inspect the item, which turned out just to be a piece of luggage, CBS 2 reported.

The all-clear was given around 11 a.m. and the road was reopened, police wrote on Twitter.
