Hey, Old Friend: Tino Martinez Rejoins Yankees As A Minor League Instructor

TAMPA, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Remember this guy?!

Tino Martinez is back with the New York Yankees as a minor league instructor.

Martinez will be at minor league spring training until it ends this weekend. He is expected to continue the role at times during the season by visiting the Yankees' minor league teams.

The former Yankees' star said Monday he enjoys working with the prospects.

Martinez was honored with a plaque last June in Yankee Stadium's Monument Park after helping the Yankees win four World Series championships and five AL pennants from 1996-01. He served as Miami Marlins' hitting coach in 2013, when he resigned in July after complaints by players that he verbally abused them became public.
