Hepatitis A Tests For Second Person In Hamilton Township, N.J. Come Back Negative

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A second person who was testified for Hepatitis A in connection with a restaurant in Hamilton Township, New Jersey has turned not to have the disease, officials said Thursday.

Late on Thursday, the New Jersey State Department of Health ruled out a possible second case of Hepatitis A connected to Rosa's Restaurant and Catering, at 3442 S. Broad St. in Hamilton. The suspected second case involved a frequent patron of the restaurant, according to a township news release.

The patron underwent testing at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the township said. A first blood test came back positive, but it turned out to be a false positive and two subsequent blood tests came back negative, the township said.

With the latest test results, the only person to have contracted Hepatitis A at the restaurant was the kitchen worker who made headlines earlier this week.

A vaccination clinic for Hepatitis A for Hamilton Township residents was held on Thursday.

Hepatitis A is the least severe type of hepatitis causing nausea, headaches and diarrhea, but it is rarely fatal, CBS Philly reported.
