Hempstead Brothers Charged In Connection With Party Shooting

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Long Island party ended with one man being shot and two brothers being jailed.

Oneil Meade, 28, and Clive Meade, 41, were arrested after a guest at a party in their Hempstead home was wounded in the neck during an argument, police said.

The 24-year-old victim survived the shooting but was in a hospital in critical condition Sunday. The man was shot Saturday just before dawn in front of the house. The argument started inside and escalated to the street, cops said.

Oneil Meade is charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Clive Meade, is charged with tampering with physical evidence.

They were awaiting arraignment Sunday. Police did not know if the two had a lawyer.

Authorities did not release the victim's name.
