Suffolk County Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty In Connection With Emaciated Horses

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A Hauppauge, Long Island woman is facing charges after officials had a look at her horses, the Suffolk County SPCA said.

Helen Malazzo owns three horses, one of which was so emaciated veterinarians weren't sure it was going to survive, officials said. The other two were also neglected, according to the SPCA.

Malazzo kept the horses at a boarding facility with no running water, according to the SPCA.

The horses were seized and are now in foster care.

Malazzo faces charges of animal cruelty. She's due in court in October.

The Suffolk County SPCA is soliciting donations to help care for the horses. If you'd care to make a donation, click here. You can also find them on Facebook or check out their website.
